After moving into my new place, I have realized that I am well stocked in the area of decorative art. Answer to this - add more shelving because these little porcelain beauties may need not be missed. How adorable is that little hairy chested number?

Many of you have probably heard about the new legislation, Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) that comes into effect Feb 2009. Although it is great to see concern for toxins and other bad stuff that could be found in children's toys, the way this law is written will cost our small handmade crafters thousands of dollars and put many out of business. You can find a great article and more info  here on Etsy. Please send this to as many people as you and contact our government officials to ask them to consider how the CPSIA will affect independent craftspeople.

Come see em's studio and friends

It's that time of year, the ole holiday craft fair. I am taking an easy this year and just doing two small shows. A bit worried about a possible lack of the usual holiday business, I decided to keep it simple. First show of two will be this Sunday at EHS Pilates Studio in the Mission. I'll be downstairs to the back of the room in plank pose (no worries, really just kidding) so please come by and say hello. The second show will be at Delfina Restaurant on 18th St on Sunday the 14th where the lovely owners graciously opened the space to their favorite crafty employees. Oh, let me count the ways....I just love this lady. Crafty friend Jen of Preen was born to be a creative, stylish, sassy little number and thankfully now through Etsy she is offering her work to the fashion hungry. Super fun hair clips and headpieces are made of leather, feathers and an occasional bling. I am so excited to pick out my own Preen original.

Monday and a Good Book

Man, do I love my craft books. I just received my copy of the Alabama Stitch Book in the mail today and I am trying to keep my head from spinning due to all of the amazing creative ideas. The book comes from one of my favorite artists Natalie Chanin, the amazing lady behind the beautiful clothing line, Alabama Chanin . Chanin's designs employ traditional crafting techniques, recruiting the help of Florence, Alabama's finest seamstresses and quilters. In this book, she publishes some of her special techniques and some pretty crafty ideas. Now, where do I find the time to make those great recycled posies?

It will be a busy week!

So, I am just sending out a little warning that my postings this week will be a bit scarce. The San Francisco Capsule Design Festival is this upcoming Sunday and I will be showcasing my own jewelry line, Em's Studio, along Octavia St between Hayes and Ivy. Although I feel pretty ready to go, I always get ridiculously nervous before shows so in order to not make myself crazy, I might take a few days off from blogging this week. Please come by and visit me and introduce yourself.  Everything on the table will be wholesale prices so there are some really good deals. Ugh, enough with the shameless selfish promotion - there are going to be so many amazing artists at the market. If you find yourself in the city this Memorial Day weekend, this will definitely be a place to be.

Good Morning

I love my little morning rituals. It takes me a little while to "rise" in the morning so I lazily snuggle with my cat, make a bit of breakfast, check my emails, my daily reads and the news and then I write on my blog. These morning habits make me so happy and help me prepare for the day to come and the perfect breakfast food make all so much better. I think this adorable cup and stackable small plate might just complete this morning package. Shinzi Katoh's delicate illustrations are soft and cheery and the mini stackable dish is just too much.
