Back to the city from a little holiday r and r in the Midwest. What strange weather! I made it to a minus 4 degrees Indiana after a crazy winter storm covered the city with glistening sheets of ice and spent the last two days there in a balmy 65 degrees. Bizarre but Christmas was lovely and my presents a success. Thanks to a few of my favorite crafty artists...

Happy Holidays!

I am in the very, very cold Midwest until after Christmas, enjoying the ice storm from the inside. Any intention of leaving my parent's very warm, very cozy home? Hells no. I don't think I ever saw an ice storm quite like this in the 27 years that I lived in Ohio. The trees covered in glistening ice are pretty striking - the minus 2 degrees, I could do without. A very Happy Holidays to all of you and I'll be back with you in a week! Have a safe and warm one.

Many of you have probably heard about the new legislation, Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) that comes into effect Feb 2009. Although it is great to see concern for toxins and other bad stuff that could be found in children's toys, the way this law is written will cost our small handmade crafters thousands of dollars and put many out of business. You can find a great article and more info  here on Etsy. Please send this to as many people as you and contact our government officials to ask them to consider how the CPSIA will affect independent craftspeople.

Easy peesy decorating

Oh friends, I have been abandoning you! So sorry another move and the whole holiday season has thrown me for a loop but here are some gorgeous Christmas images from our friends at Living Etc to keep you company.

White Raven

Yesterday was spent at a beautiful Mission pilates studio with a bunch of other crafty people. EHS Pilates Studio hosted a small holiday craft fair and although it was a tad slow and I was a tad under the weather, I met several cool artists. For me it is equally important to meet other inspiring creative types as it is to be busy with a lot of sales. I feed off of their energy and creativity. One of my favorite was booth neighbor White Raven Designs. Her illustrations made me so happy - sweet and still edgy. I got away with a few cards - one that I am dying to hang next to my other "love" inspired art. Cynical and sarcastic of course. Check out her Etsy site for cool tee shirt and greeting card designs. Hopefully, we'll see more of her on the SF craft circuit.

It's that time of year, the ole holiday craft fair. I am taking an easy this year and just doing two small shows. A bit worried about a possible lack of the usual holiday business, I decided to keep it simple. First show of two will be this Sunday at EHS Pilates Studio in the Mission. I'll be downstairs to the back of the room in plank pose (no worries, really just kidding) so please come by and say hello. The second show will be at Delfina Restaurant on 18th St on Sunday the 14th where the lovely owners graciously opened the space to their favorite crafty employees.
